In a forceful address to the United Nations General Assembly, U.S. President Donald Trump urged the international community to enforce “complete economic isolation” on Iran. Speaking in New York, Trump argued that such global unity could lower energy prices and exert pressure on Tehran, which he warned should not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons.
The president defended the U.S. decision to conduct military strikes against Iran and hinted at the possibility of further action if a diplomatic resolution is not reached. “I call on all nations to help to enforce the complete economic isolation of Iran,” Trump stated, linking the geopolitical tensions to rising global energy costs.
In addition to Iran, Trump addressed the advancing field of artificial intelligence (AI), dismissing calls for tighter regulations. He emphasized the transformative potential of AI, likening its significance to the Industrial Revolution, and dismissed concerns about its risks as a “hoax.”
Trump also announced plans for two new U.S. military bases in Greenland, developed under an agreement with Denmark, which he said would bolster the defense of both the American continent and Europe. This announcement comes amid ongoing discussions over the Russia-Ukraine conflict, where Trump claimed progress toward a settlement as energy prices remain volatile due to geopolitical tensions, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz.
