Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has called for renewed efforts to strengthen ties between Türkiye and the United States, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in addressing global challenges. Speaking at the “100 Years of Friendship Gala” in New York, Erdoğan highlighted the positive outcomes from the cooperation between the two NATO allies, particularly in the Middle East.
Erdoğan proposed expanding bilateral cooperation in several sectors, including nuclear energy, liquefied natural gas, civil aviation, high technology, and the defense industry. He advocated for the removal of barriers to enhance joint defense production, underscoring Türkiye’s rapid growth in defense exports, which have surged from approximately $248 million two decades ago to over $10 billion today. Erdoğan expressed optimism that Türkiye would soon rank among the world’s top 10 defense exporters.
Addressing economic relations, Erdoğan encouraged US investors to explore opportunities in Türkiye, citing the nation’s foreign investment incentives. He announced Ankara’s new investment initiative, which aims to attract global investors through a competitive incentive framework.
US Senator Chris Coons also acknowledged the enduring partnership between Türkiye and the United States, noting the significant role of business and entrepreneurship in fortifying bilateral relations. The event, attended by senior officials and business leaders from both countries, celebrated the historic diplomatic and economic ties.
