Iran has issued a stern warning to the United States, indicating that any renewed military conflict could extend beyond the previous engagements between the two nations. Iranian army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia emphasized that Tehran would dictate its own response to any acts of aggression, suggesting that the U.S. would not be able to control the duration or terms of such a conflict.
Reinforcing this stance, Iranian Defence Minister Mehrdad Akhlaghi stated that any attack on Iran would provoke a proportionate and decisive response. He underscored that Iran would not permit its adversaries to determine the scale, timing, or consequences of its defensive actions.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps added that a potential conflict with the United States would not be confined to a specific geographical region, implying that the repercussions could spread across a broader area.
Despite these warnings, diplomatic efforts to resolve tensions continue. Iranian negotiators have been engaging with Qatari mediators in Doha, aiming to reach an agreement to end the ongoing US-Israeli conflict with Iran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed the continuation of discussions aimed at reaching a consensus, although no final agreement has been achieved yet.
Concerns about the resumption of hostilities remain, particularly after the upcoming U.S. midterm elections on November 3. U.S. President Donald Trump has suggested that no new attacks on Iran would occur before the elections, while maintaining that negotiations with Tehran have been fruitful. However, he has not ruled out the possibility of military action post-election.
